Squares in Glory

When Sissy and I went to the beach I caught these square clouds in glory light.  I counted three squares in all--I thought them breathtaking.

Heart of the Columbia - Guest Heart Thursday

As we drove along the Columbia Gorge on our way back home--I chanced upon this amazing heart in the skies.  I'm so grateful for a camera which captures things on the move!

Sky Opal

On our way back from Washington state Sunday night, we noticed a Sky Opal in the sunset.  I caught a glimpse of it with my camera as we drove over the Glenn Jackson Bridge back toward Oregon. Can you see it right about center, just over the hills of Portland?

Here is a close up of the Sky Opal.  The camera really doesn't do the real thing justice!

Stony Heart - Guest Heart Thursday

I'm constantly amazed by the shapes found in nature.  This isn't geometric by any means--but it is a heart of stone carved by the hands of the sea.  Utterly lovely and perfect for this day's Guest Heart Thursday!

Snow, Beaches and Hearts - Guest Heart Thursday

By the time we arrived the sun had already gone down--but we could see the waves of the sea because a car sitting on the beach had highlighted them with their beams.  It was a wild and windy night--every time I would get up I would see snow falling in the parking lot lights.

When we awoke early the next morning, this is what we saw!  After a marvelous breakfast, we went for a walk on the beach...in the SNOW!

I found these interesting "creatures" standing in the snow.  As you can see one is in the shape of a heart.

That evening we went out again to watch the sunset.  I wasn't a bit surprised to see this giant heart shining out over the beach.  After all--the beach was greeting a long-lost Friend...Clytie, Queen of Hearts.

Square over Pacific City

A few years ago my friend Lynn and I went to the beach and stayed for a couple of days.  This is one of the extraordinary photos I took that day.  Yes, I do see the mermaid--but do you see the giant rectangle???

Have a wonderful week!

This Square is Groovin'

I was fascinated by this square I found in the sandstone near the waves of the ocean.  It held my eye with its straight lines...and then I thought to myself, This Square is Groovin'.

Sunset's Heart - Guest Heart Thursday

We were parking at Costco when I spotted this amazing heart.  Of course, my husband was rolling his eyes as I grabbed for my camera.  I'm so glad I did.  lol  Sunset's Heart lasted only for a moment, then it was gone.

Perfect Circle

I am always amazed at how many perfect circles can be found in the clouds.  I was able to catch this one just before it dissolved into nothingness.  Do you see the fellow standing standing there on the left-hand side?  He has a really long nose and seems to be fascinated with that Perfect Circle.

Sea Circle - Weekend Reflections

Last spring we went for a trip to Pacific City on the Oregon Coast.  This is a beautiful area.  Down the side of a sand dune, near the cave of eagles, I found this floating Sea Circle--reflecting the light of the sky.

Floating Hearts - Guest Heart Thursday

Yesterday I dropped by the mortuary where my youngest Sister works.  The clouds were exceptional.  I was delighted to catch these floating hearts for today's Guest Heart Thursday.

Squared in the Sky

I was out in the back yard tending to my garden when I glanced upward.  A combination of shadow and cloud caused this perfect square to form in the skies.  Of course, since I wear my camera like a necklace when I'm out and about--I caught these amazing photos.

Triangle over Columbia Gorge

We were on our way home from a performance in the Columbia Gorge when I spotted this triangle in the skies over the Gorge.  There was a storm sweeping in from the west.  It was fast-moving, so I was only able to capture two pictures of this interesting cloud.   I shot the picture through the windshield of our old van.

Have a great weekend!

Heart over Tree - Guest Heart Thursday

Last summer I was strolling out in the back yard, when I happened to glance up--there to my amazement was a perfect heart imprint in the clouds.  As always I had my camera with me, so I snapped a picture of this floating beauty!

Exploding Heart - Guest Heart Thursday

Though this isn't nature, I was astonished to catch this heart blasting into the skies last July 4th!  I knew it was especially for my darling and talented Sister Clytie--Queen of Hearts!

Perfect Heart - Guest Heart Thursday

I caught this perfect heart floating over the neighbors house.  It is as though someone threw a heart straight out from the clouds.

Heart of the Fireworks - Guest Heart Thursday

Every year our little town puts on a spectacular fireworks show for the Fourth of July.  I was astounded to catch this heart cloud lingering in the sparkle of fireworks.  I did not touch this amazing photograph up in any way.

Baseball in the Sky?

When I headed out to weed in the garden, I did a double take--a giant ball was floating overhead.  Of course, I had my camera by my side and clicked several photos before it bounced on its way across the skies.

If we believed as the Greeks and Romans, we might have thought the god's were playing a game of baseball?  You can almost see a giant hand grasping the ball in this picture!

What on Earth is THAT?!

I was singing to the birds one lazy summer afternoon--then noticed a cloud had turned to look at me.  And with only one eye.

Shiny Heart in the Sky - Guest Heart Thursday

I am constantly amazed by the imagery found in the skies.  Last week I happened to catch this glowing heart as it drifted over the back fence.  If you look closely, you can find an even smaller heart within the larger one.

Faery Dust - Weekend Reflections

Yesterday I was taking a rest from power washing the outside of our home, when I noticed glitter in the skies.  As long as I looked into the sun from the shadow's edges, I could see the swirl of what seemed to be Faery Dust! When I looked at the photo on my computer, the clouds were a lovely rainbow of blues and pinks.  A truly magical moment.

I believe this Fairy Dust might be various seeds floating in the air, which were only seen when looking at them from a certain angle.  Though the sky was thick with sparkles--my camera could only catch a few of these tiny reflectors!

Through the Windshield

I was sitting at a stoplight at the bottom of the hill, waiting to turn left down the "twirly road."

I looked up, gasped, grabbed my camera (sitting on the seat beside me) and clicked this HUGE square lurking in the skies just above my windshield.

Such a strange thing to see something like this Through the Windshield.

Exquisite Heart - Guest Heart Thursday

Though this is not necessarily geometric -- it is still an amazing formation in the sky.  I took this photo over the back fence at Sunset this last Spring.

The First Square

Over a year ago, one early morning, while walking dogs with my Neighbor, I caught this extraordinary cubed shape indentation in the clouds .  My camera is never far from my side--and so I was able to capture this amazing sight.

My sister laughingly called it the "Borg" cloud.  Suffice it to say, I had never seen a square in the skies before.

However, since that day, I have caught many additional geometric shapes in the clouds and in nature itself.

I have created this blog to share these amazing photos.
